Best Early-Morning Ride Routes Out of Dubai
The best riding in Dubai happens before most of the city wakes up. Empty roads, cooler air, and long, clean stretches of tarmac — here are four routes worth setting an alarm for, all doable as a there-and-back before the heat sets in.
1. Hatta Road (E44 stretch)
The classic. Wide, well-surfaced sweepers with the Hajar Mountains rising on both sides as you get further out. Leave by 5:30am and you'll have most of the road to yourself.
- Distance: roughly 100km one-way from central Dubai to Hatta
- Fuel up before leaving — stations thin out past the city limits
- Food stop: grab breakfast at one of the small cafés in Hatta town before heading back

2. Al Qudra Road
Flatter and more technical than Hatta — long straights broken by tighter corners near the cycle track section. Popular with cyclists from 6am onward, so throttle discipline matters here more than top speed.
- Distance: the full loop runs about 85km
- Watch for cyclists and photographers near the lakes section
- Food stop: the food trucks near Al Qudra Lakes open early and are worth the stop

3. Jebel Jais Mountain Road
Technically in Ras Al Khaimah, but close enough for a Dubai-based early ride. The UAE's highest road, with proper elevation change, hairpins, and noticeably cooler air near the top.
- Distance: around 130km one-way from Dubai to the summit road
- Start earlier than the other routes — the extra distance and climb take longer
- Food stop: cafés near the base in Jais village, or push on to the viewing deck first

4. Dubai–Al Ain Road
Straighter and faster than the mountain routes, good for a longer, more relaxed early ride if you want distance over technical corners.
- Distance: about 130km one-way
- Well-lit and well-serviced — better option if you're still building night/dawn riding confidence
- Food stop: Al Ain has plenty of options once you arrive, worth a proper breakfast stop before the ride back

Before you head out
- Leave before 6am in summer months — heat builds fast after sunrise
- Tell someone your route, especially on the mountain roads
- Carry water even on a "short" 100km run — mountain routes have long stretches with no stops
None of these need to be ridden hard to be worth it. Half the appeal is just being out before the city — and everyone else — wakes up.
